Cardiac First Response – Advanced
The Cardiac First Response (CFR) Advanced course provides students with Basic Life Support skills to enable them to respond to a variety of life-threatening emergencies and includes more advanced skills such as using supraglottic airways and bag valve masks.
Content
- Adult single rescuer and two-person CPR
- Child and Infant CPR
- Using of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Using Oropharyngeal (OPA) and supraglottic airway devices
- Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
- Aspirin Administration
- Using a Bag-Valve Mask (BVM)
- Oxygen Administration
- Post-Resuscitation Care
- Critical Incident Stress Management

1 Day
Entry Criteria
Minimum Age is 18.
Entry to the CFR Advanced level is aimed at persons who may be working in the emergency medical services, fire and rescue services or a healthcare professional working in healthcare facilities or in the community.
Assessment
Multiple choice question paper exam of 25 questions; 80% pass mark.
Skills will be assessed using PHECC’s CFR Community and Advanced assessment sheets.
Remediation
Remediation is performed in line with our Assessment and Remediation Policy. Please contact us for a copy.
Certification
Heartsafety Solutions/ PHECC CFR-Advanced Certificate valid for 2 Years
Considerations
Regular refreshment of skills is recommended (at least yearly). If there is concern about maintaining competency in all the required CFR Advanced skills, the CFR Community level may be more suitable
Materials
All participants are supplied with the PHECC Cardiac First Responder manual, PHECC Red Card and a CPR pocketmask each.
