The Defibtech DDU 100 E's standard battery life is five years. However, as each device is unique, it is vital to check your defibrillator regularly. Knowing when your battery will expire will give you time to prepare and purchase a new one. If your defibrillator needs a new battery, the device will omit one of the maintenance prompts, “low battery” or “replace battery now,"  indicating to the owner that a new battery is needed. The defibrillator also performs self-tests daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly to ensure everything, including the battery, is functioning properly. If there is an issue with the battery, the defibrillator will detect it during the self-tests. This informs the device's owner of an issue with the battery and that a replacement is necessary.
