How Important is First Aid Training?
First Aid Training courses cover a variety of essential, life-saving skills, teaching us the correct techniques and procedures required in order to respond quickly when faced with emergency situations. Typically, first aid training courses will be carried out through a combination of practical learning and theory-based learning in order to fully prepare you for responding to a real-life emergency situation. Here at HeartSafety Solutions, we provide a variety of first aid training courses, ranging from Sports First Aid Courses to Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. At some point in our lives, most of us will take part in a first aid course or workshop and the skills we learn are often amongst the most valuable we will ever learn. Failure to act quickly when faced with a medical emergency can often be a contributing factor to the severity of the injuries sustained by the victim. As such, knowing basic first aid is essential.
What areas are usually covered in First Aid Training?
The topics and procedures covered in first aid training vary depending on a number of factors and are usually based on the background of the course participants. For example, if you are partaking in a Sports First Aid Course, many of the areas covered will be specific to sports-related injuries and situations, such as treating concussions or fractured bones. However, while the exact coursework may vary, the core aim of first aid courses, to save lives keep us safe, does not. No matter what your line of work is, knowing the fundamental basics of first aid is vital, not only with regard to responding to medical emergencies but also knowing how to prevent them.
At HeartSafety Solutions, our First Aid Workshops teach participants skills such as the basics of CPR, how to control bleeding, how to correctly use an AED (automated external defibrillator), pediatric first aid, how to correctly administer oxygen, as well as how to assist someone who is choking. The skills you will learn during these courses will provide you with the life-saving skills required in order to act quickly and confidently when faced with an emergency. A prime example of this is sudden cardiac arrest in which response time is crucial to the chances of survival of the victim. Even if you are not medically trained, knowing how to use an AED or how to administer CPR could be the difference between life and death and can reduce the lasting effects of sudden cardiac arrest.
What happens once you have completed a first aid course?
Once you have successfully completed a first aid course here at HeartSafety Solutions, you will receive an approved accreditation certificate. These accreditations vary from course to course. For instance, if you are a healthcare provider, you will be required to complete courses that provide you with a PHECC certification. Courses that provide PHECC accreditation, which stands for the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council, are designed to provide occupational first aid rescuers with essential training, ensuring they are trained and prepared to administer life-saving treatment to patients.
Arguably above all else, as well as receiving a recognized accreditation, successfully taking part in and completing a first aid course will give you life-saving skills and knowledge that will stay with you.
